SURF BOARD SCULPTURES
These three Surfboard sculptures were commissioned in 2018 by Serafina Beach Hotel Condado, PR. CR followed traditional shape methods and shaped these by hand. The boards represent the continuous movement of the Atlantic ocean, which is in constant view from every angle within the hotel. The artist abstractly painted these sculptures with wild brushstrokes of blue hues before glassing on the final layer of tinted resin. These brushstrokes harmoniously faded into each other after the resin was added, meaning that this color effect was spontaneous and unplanned. By rapidly painting a variety of tones of the same color Ramirez managed to create movement within the sculptures and capture the ocean’s perpetual flow of untamed energy.
